Call for NSF Proposals and Reviewers

The Division of Astronomical Sciences at the National Science Foundation (NSF) is currently receiving proposals submitted to our comprehensive research and technology programs. Proposals to both programs must be submitted by 15 November 2022 to be considered in this review cycle. Please pay close attention to the 2022 solicitations when preparing your proposal.

1. The Astronomy & Astrophysics Grants program (AAG; NSF22-624) is an inclusive and flexible funding opportunity that provides grants for observational, theoretical, laboratory, and archival data studies in astronomy and astrophysics. The Program also considers proposals for projects and tools that enable or enhance astronomical research. Proposals may span multiple disciplines and/or areas of study and may utilize multiple techniques. Please note the new language in the solicitation, which could require proposers to “include a labeled section in the project description explaining why NASA data are required to advance the scientific goals of an NSF proposal.”
2. The Advanced Technology and Instrumentation for Astronomical Sciences program (ATI; NSF22-627) provides grants for the development of new technologies and instrumentation for use in ground-based astronomy and astrophysics. The development of innovative, potentially transformative, technologies and instruments are sought, even at high technical risk.
